Over the past three decades, the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation’s (KLHF) Scholarship Program has provided scholarships to hundreds of students across South Florida. Established in 1988, the KLHF Scholarship Program has awarded over $1.5 million to young adults to help them attend college as full-time students and achieve their dream of earning an undergraduate degree.

Every year, approximately 40 future leaders receive scholarships at a ceremony including our students, their families, our generous sponsors and the Kiwanis of Little Havana family.

Priscilla Ferreyra, Programming Coordinator for Univision Deportes, and a 2016 scholarship recipient says that “…receiving the scholarship was rewarding, especially being able to go to the awards ceremony. It allowed me to feel celebrated and appreciated by an organization that believed in me and my desire to achieve a college education”.  Ferreyra has continued pursuing her academic goals, and is currently pursuing a graduate program in Journalism.

Graduates of the scholarship program include professionals in the fields of education, marketing, public relations, engineering, medicine, and law.  Our students often credit the award received from the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation for allowing them to focus on being students, rather than having to juggle the stressful combination of work and a full-time class load.  In addition, the KLHF Scholarship program assists students in building relationship.  Andre Dunand,

Growth Manager at HyperFocus ROI and a scholarship recipient, states “The Kiwanis scholarship provided me the opportunity to receive my college education and pushed me in the direction of success.  It allowed me to connect with many like-minded individuals and build connections that would last a lifetime.”

The Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation is dedicated to promoting the Kiwanis International mission of One Child, One Community, and is proud to support education for the children and young adults of our community.  Community partners, such as BMW South Florida, the Miami Heat, Do Unto Others Trust, and the Korth Foundation are dedicated and proud supporters of the KLHF Scholarship Program.  Additional support comes from the annual Putting for Education Golf Classic, an institution of the Kiwanis of Little Havana since 1982.
